Our Common Initiative Group for the Promotion of Sustainable Development Initiatives (CIG)

Established on September 19, 2003, under registration number CE/GP/30/03/10635, as  Common Initiative Group (CIG) for Promoting Sustainable Development Initiatives. We are governed by Cameroonian laws on GICs, ensuring a solid and transparent legal framework.

Our Headquarters: Yaoundé, Cameroon. Our Commitment: A lifespan of 99 years, for a lasting impact across generations.

Our CIG Mission

Acting for Global Sustainable Development

Our CIG is actively committed to promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with priority action in Cameroon and a global ambition.

Our main commitments and objectives:

  • No Poverty: Contribute to the eradication of poverty in all its forms.

  • Zero Hunger: Fight hunger and promote sustainable agriculture.

  • Good Health and Well-being: Promote access to health for all.

  • Quality Education: Promote inclusive and equitable education.

Our Reach

Our Common Initiative Group  covers the entire national territory of Cameroon, with the possibility of establishing branches in each region. We are also developing international representations to extend our impact beyond borders

Our Resources:

  • We welcome any individual demonstrating proven expertise, experience, or dedication in sustainable development.

  • Admission is decided by the General Assembly upon proposal from the Executive Board, without ethnic, religious, or gender discrimination.

  • Engaging in regular activities with the group.

  • Utilizing the goods and services offered by the group.

  • Contributing, in various ways, to the group's assets.

  • Participate in meetings and take part in decisions.

  • Be eligible to vote and stand for election to all positions of responsibility.

  • Benefit from all the group's services and infrastructure.

  • Voluntarily withdraw under the conditions defined by the statutes.

The CIG is governed by two main bodies:

The General Assembly (GA):

  • This is the supreme body of the CIG, bringing together all members.

  • It defines the fundamental orientations, adopts annual action plans and budgets, approves investment projects, elects the Executive Board members, and rules on member admissions and withdrawals.

  • It meets at least once a year in an ordinary session.

  • Decisions are made by a two-thirds (2/3) majority of members present, with a required quorum of at least two-thirds (2/3) of the group's members.

The Executive Board:

  • Composed of eight (8) members elected for a five-year term, renewable.

  • It is responsible for the coordination and daily monitoring of activities.

  • Composition: Delegate (Coordinator), Advisor to the Delegate, Vice-Delegate, Secretary General, Treasurer General, Auditor, Head of Programs and Projects, Conflict and Legal Affairs Advisor.

  • The Board prepares the action plan, executes GA resolutions, develops projects, and handles general administration.

  • CIG's activities are funded by various sources:

  • Membership fees and contributions from members.

  • Commercialization of our products and services.

  • Donations, legacies, and grants.

  • Various credits and fines (in accordance with internal regulations).
