BCI Partners with GIZ to Revolutionize Local Development and Pastoral Economy in Gobo, Cameroon

GOBO, CAMEROON – Bioconcept International (BCI) is proud to announce its selection by the GIZ-PETRADEP project (Peace, Transhumance, and Development of the Pastoral Economy) to lead the strategic updating of the Communal Development Plan (CDP) for the Gobo Council.

Operating at the crossroads of Cameroon, Chad, and Nigeria, the Gobo Council is a vital hub for regional transhumance. BCI’s mission aims to integrate modern challenges—such as climate change resilience and peaceful cross-border transhumance—into the council's official development roadmap.

A Holistic Approach to Local Governance "Our goal is to provide the Gobo Council with a realistic and inclusive reference document," says EMEBE Hippolyte Aristide, General Coordinator of BCI. "We are focusing on five key action pillars: inclusive governance, conflict prevention, dissemination of best practices, pastoral value chains, and the 'One Health' approach for both livestock and herders."

Field Milestones, the BCI technical team, has already successfully completed the kick-off phase, including:

  • Official technical meetings with GIZ-PETRADEP in Yaoundé.

  • Field scouting and sensitization of traditional authorities

  • Collaborative workshops with municipal executives and sectorial delegates.

This project aligns perfectly with Cameroon’s National Development Strategy (SND30) and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring that public investments meet the real needs of the population
